Intro

I think that the introduction of the book was very interesting to read. It immediately draws you in because the author hits us with a very interesting fact. “In 1972, the astronaut Jack Schmitt took a picture of earth from the Apollo 17 spacecraft, which is now believed to be the most reproduced photograph ever.”  This fact alone is a very big fact because to me its a fact that i hadn’t thought of but it is very relevant to today’s society in the sense that it involves photography. Then it carries on by talking about other facts that make you realise how the world has changed not only in technological ways but in things like for example where people have lived. “In 2008 more people lived in cities than the countryside for the first time in history.” After more interesting facts the author then starts to talk about visual culture and throughout this part of the introduction the author hints at what he’s trying to do with this book and also explains what visual culture is as well as giving examples. Something i really like in the book are the use of pictures as it helps to understand what the author is talking about and I personally find it helpful and interesting to see for example old paintings. The introduction as a whole is just filled with facts that will amaze the reader and also makes the reader think about the history of the world and about the changing world. I think that throughout the book it should pretty much help us to see all of these changes. I think that this factual information is very well used because it allows the reader to be drawn in from  the very first page and it also makes the reader want think of what else could be coming.
